This interactive 3D environment, created in Blender and presented via Sketchfab, depicts a head gradually coming apart to reveal a turbulent internal landscape. Initially (annotation view 1), viewers encounter a fragmented head arranged above a table, inviting curiosity and exploration. As viewers interact with the piece through a table with a touchscreen surface, they can move the model around and inspect the details within the mind.
Within the head are miniature scenes and symbolic objects, each representing distinct stresses, anxieties, and internal conflicts. These moments, partially illustrated through annotations, encourage careful examination and personal interpretation.
Conceptually, the sculpture addresses the harmful impacts of negative thoughts and the external pressures that are internalized. These influences destabilize the head, causing it to fragment and drift apart. The artwork is intentionally ambiguous as to invite the viewers to engage personally, discovering meanings that resonate with their own experiences.
Suspended above the table is a ring composed of numerous faces gazing upward toward the fragmented head. Personally, these faces symbolize the individuals whose opinions and judgments shape our decisions and self-perception. Alternatively, viewed from above, the ring can resemble a ring light or, combined with the rectangular table, a camera lens—reflecting societal pressures of constant observation and scrutiny.
Inside, wiry strands weave through and encapsulate the chaotic interior, visually anchoring the sculpture. These strands symbolize our attempts to contain emotional and mental turmoil, occasionally failing and allowing bursts of tension to surface.
This piece ultimately reflects my personal experiences with anxiety and intrusive negative thoughts. Where acknowledging and managing these internal struggles has been crucial to maintaining emotional balance and well-being for myself.
